What’s my story?

The first thing you need to know about me is – I’ve been there. I started three businesses, each one failed, and I came close to giving up on my dream of working for myself.

After the third time, I started asking myself serious questions about my responsibilities and commitments as a husband and father. Just like so many other Dads who want to break out on their own and work for themselves, and who face this incredibly tough dilemma. And it’s because of who you are that you take those responsibilities seriously.

But I also asked myself three other questions:

But I also asked myself three other questions:

Why did I fail?

What did I enjoy most about running my businesses?

What do I want to show my kids about what work means?

And out of that self-interrogation came three pretty clear answers:

I just hadn’t found the right kind of business to run yet.

I loved communicating with my clients and helping them build towards their goals.

Most important of all, I owe it to my kids to show them that there is another way.

So, I dusted myself off and gave it another try.

I hustled my way to my first two clients in my new venture and grew it from there. And before I knew it, I had a profitable, sustainable business, one that meant something to me, one that motivated me to get up and do my best for my clients every day.

Now, I make a great living working four hours a day. And no, I don’t have a boss.

Of course, I got so many things wrong, but ultimately, I learned through that process how to make time for all of the things I love.

Does any of this sound familiar?

So, if any of the below feels familiar to you – and it doesn’t sit well – then we need to talk. Because after all, this is your life.

I spend my working time feeling guilty about not being with family, and my family time feeling guilty about not working

I have big decisions about the future of my business to make every day, but I end up making those decisions when I’m stressed or rushed

My peers see me as successful, but I feel like I’m only just staying afloat

The harder I work the less I seem to keep up

I started this because I wanted more freedom - but instead I’m just chained to my laptop

There just aren’t enough hours in the day to do everything I have to do

I spend 80% of my time chasing my to-do list, and 20% of it actually achieving something meaningful

I don’t even know where to begin to make a career change - it just feels way too risky at my stage of life
